Erie Trail Volunteers

Almost daily, members of the Prairie Trails Club and our supporters volunteer to control invasive species, trim encroaching vegetation, remove fallen debris from the trail surface, mow, or repair pavement.  The PTC also announces on its website "Trail Work Days" as an organization and in partnership with others such as the Marshall County Horse Association and the Starke/Pulaski County CISMA.  Youth are provided an opportunity for community volunteer experience.

Join the Erie Trail Volunteers!

Trail volunteers Chris Balzer, Tabitha Lucas Balzer, Greg Wittig, Karen Wittig and Bruce Fingerhut (left to right) in 2013 were joined by Steve Morris, Director of the Division of Outdoor Recreation of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, for a day of work and a trail ride.

Members design wayfinding and interpretive signage along the Erie Trail.  With financial support from our generous donors for printing, members also erect and maintain the signs.
